There’s Still Time for Holiday Gifts

It's not too late to buy some geeky gifts from Almanaq! In addition to the Almanaqs, accessories, and puzzles that we've always had, this year we added a bunch of unique home goods manufactured through Zazzle. Start here:

The photo above shows an assortment of the new products, mostly highlighting our unique puzzle clocks. These are the only clocks available that have real puzzles integrated into the clock faces, all lovingly hand constructed by Roy. As you can see, there's a crossword, a KenKen®, a Sudoku, and a word search. All the puzzles themselves are available for free, as downloads to be solved on paper or in the Puzzazz app.

But, wait, there's more! The chalkboard-colored clock is our Mathematical Constants clock. While you can find other mathematical clocks, they all use formulas, sometimes laughably complex formulas, for the numbers from 1 to 12. But everybody knows where those numbers go! We thought it would be much more interesting to put common mathematical constants like e and π, and variants on them, in their correct positions on the clock face*. And it gives you a perfect excuse to have some pie every afternoon!

Each of our clocks comes in a number of different color schemes to match your personal taste in home decor. There's even a delightfully colorful crossword clock.

We also have some puzzle mugs and tote bags (including some holiday items) and we'll be adding even more in the coming year.

All of these products make great gifts for puzzle lovers, students, teachers, engineers, geeks, and nerds of all sorts. If you choose to buy something for yourself, we promise not to tell anyone!

Our Shipping Schedule

We'll ship all orders within two days. You know the rest. Our shipping labels have an Almanaq return address but our boxes are nondescript.

No News is ... Well, No News

People frequently ask us if we're working on future Almanaqs. Yes, we are! And yes, we would love to tell you everything! But we're going to wait until things are actually ready to make our next announcements.

Happy Holidays!

Of the myriad holidays celebrated throughout the world this time of year, we think the most anticipated one here in the Pacific Northwest is the Winter Solstice, when the days start getting longer again. Our days our only about 8½ hours now. We want more daylight hours for creating puzzles!

Until next time, we hope you enjoy whatever holidays you celebrate in December and January!

* Astute observers will notice that all of the constants except 0 are irrational, so we were forced to approximate their locations. It's a shame that knowing e and π to more than 20 decimal places didn't turn out to be useful.
