The Conjurer's Almanaq October Special Edition

October Special Edition

We know it hasn't been two weeks yet, but we're so excited we couldn't wait! The color proofs arrived today and they are gorgeous! And the limited edition books are going to look even better. A good day at Almanaq HQ.

Would you like to test solve? We have a spare color proof copy so we've decided to do something fun with it. This Friday and Saturday (October 26th and 27th), we're going to host open solving sessions here in Redmond. If you are local to the Redmond or Seattle area, we'd love to have you stop by for an hour or two at Almanaq World Headquarters on the shores of beautiful Lake Sammamish*. We will help guide you to a part of the book to solve (though you also might look through and spot something that intrigues you), and we will try to make sure that you're not spoiled on anything other than what you solve while you're here.

We're going to keep the days pretty open within the range of 11AM to Midnight each day, but we'd like to organize things so we don't have too many people at the same time (plus, we have rather limited parking). So, if you're local and interested, please send us an email at almanaq@almanaq.com to let us know when you're available and we will coordinate. We're looking forward to seeing some of you!

Note: These sessions are open and we know some information will leak out. We're ok with that, but we will be insisting that anybody who sees the book early pledge to avoid any spoilers.

Yes, that's part of the book at the top. No, you can't see a puzzle in that picture. Didn't we just say we don't want spoilers? This is part of the Conjurer's Codes section of the book, which we added in response to solver feedback. You may or may not need any of the codes we included, but solvers told us they would prefer it if there were fewer things that required you to go elsewhere at some point during solving. So, we made a list of a dozen codes we thought solvers would find interesting and helpful. There are no puzzles hidden within the codes, so they're great for a photo. (We certainly considered hiding a puzzle in the codes, but decided against it because it was far too likely to cause confusion.)

As always, thanks for your support!

Roy and Emily

* More or less. By "world headquarters," we mean a living room with a nice couch. By "shores," we mean the lake's in the neighborhood. And, by "beautiful," we actually mean beautiful.
