We’re Shipping!

You read that correctly! We are shipping The Conjurer's Almanaq.

Some of you have already received an email saying your copy is on the way, but it was Sunday so that wasn't technically true.

We're using two carriers. For FedEx, the notification means your shipping label has been created, which roughly means that your package is ready to be handed over to FedEx. For USPS, the notification means that USPS has actually received the package. In both cases, you'll receive a tracking ID so you can check every five minutes exactly where your package is (we know that's what we would do*).

We started with 52 boxes of books like the ones above, a half dozen huge boxes of Morgues, and lots of smaller boxes. Two things really surprised us — how big and heavy these limited editions are, and just how much room everything took up. We've already done a lot of prep work, but we don't know how long it will take us to get all the packages out. We will update you again when the last package has gone out. In the meantime, please read these important notes.

Boxes — Yes, everything is boxed. Some boxes are inside an outer envelope or mailer. A very small number of you will receive two boxes. We've packed the boxes very carefully to make sure everything arrives in pristine condition. Please use care when opening that you don't cut or rip anything. For international backers, customs may open the box for inspection.

Customs — Speaking of customs, the customs value is not the same as your pledge amount. The customs value is what's in the box, not how much you pledged. In many countries, books are excluded from customs duties. Sorry, we don't know the rules for each country.

The Fold-Up Map — We had originally planned to have a foldout map for a visually bigger puzzle that wouldn't fit on a single page. But, it just wasn't working. The part of the foldout inside the book was awkward to use while solving, which meant a 3-page wide map effectively had less than 2 pages of useful space, plus the book got in the way. So, we changed it to a larger, 12"x18" fold-up map, printed by the excellent Seattle PrintWorks on the same high-quality acid free paper as the rest of the book. We think it turned out very nicely.

Another Artifact — You'll find a bonus surprise in the box. We have created a retcon artifact for The Librarian's Almanaq. Originally, we were just going to send these to people who added on The Librarian's Almanaq, but we have decided to send them to everyone. You'll get one for each Almanaq (Conjurer's or Librarian's), plus one for each extra Conjurer's artifact you added on.

Invisible Signing — If your book is signed, numbered, or personalized invisibly, you'll find it on the dedication page.

Acid Free Paper — The paper in the Limited Edition is acid free, but we can't guarantee that's true of all of the packaging materials. This is not an issue in the short run, but if you're planning to save a copy to give to someone in the future, say for a summer birthday, you might want to take the book out of its packaging.

As always, thanks for your support, and enjoy solving!

Roy and Emily
